If you traveled to the coast this summer you may have found yourself wishing for a quicker route.
But what if that quicker trip involved passing up businesses?
A new Highway 70 bypass is up for discussion. Project organizers met Thursday in New Bern and Morehead City. There's concern a bypass would direct traffic around cities like Kinston and Havelock.
While the construction wouldn't be done for several years, Havelock tourism officials are already thinking ahead, concerned about people also bypassing area businesses.
Project organizers say a Highway 70 bypass would address safety and mobility concerns.
