Ten years ago, a Hoke County student sued the state for not providing all the necessary tools to get a good education in poor districts.
Just this past summer, a $10 million settlement was reached. Hyde County, one of 16 counties, is getting $167,000 of that money to improve education and there may be more money on the way.
