Want to Upgrade Your Heating System?

If you're buying a new modular home, there's a way you can save money on your utility bill this winter.

East Carolina University has a new program called the "Upgrade and Save Program." It's being offered through the College of Technology and Computer Science department. It gives modular home buyers a chance to upgrade from an electric resistance furnace, often put in modular homes, to a heat pump system for free.

Department officials say they want to study the savings in heating costs over the period of a year. After the study, they plan on turning over the results to the Department of Energy, have them look at the differences in cost, and hopefully set new legislation to have heat pumps installed instead of those electric resistance furnaces.

If you want more information about this program, you can call 252-327-4272.
