It's a startling statistic. For towns their size, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, and Kitty Hawk in Dare County rank third in the state for the number of alcohol related accidents. That's one reason last weekend's "Booze It or Lose It" checkpoint in Kitty Hawk was so important.
So how did it fare? Two driving while impaired charges, five drug charges including a felony amount of marijuana taken from a vehicle, and fifty violations for things like expired tags and inspection, and driving without a license. The checkpoint was held at the base of the Wright Memorial Bridge.
