Tennis lovers in Duck had a big weekend of competition.
Play for the Outer Banks Charity Classic began Friday afternoon, and continued through Sunday afternoon. Now in its second year, the event raises money for the Dare County Hospice, a program that helps take care of the terminally ill. Organizers hope to raise at least nine thousand dollars for the charity. Men and women have come from as far away as Raleigh and Virginia Beach to compete. Tournament chairman Jim Groff says the tennis weekend gives back to a charity that helps so many on the Outer Banks.
The tournament was held at the Duck Woods Tennis Center, in Southern Shores, and was free for spectators.
