Teacher Scores With Educational Lottery

By  |

A Pender County teacher hit it big with the state's educational lottery--she walked away with a $200,000 Powerball prize.

Darlene Lewis made the trip to Raleigh with her husband, who is also a school teacher. She matched all five white balls on the November 7th drawing, buying her winning ticker at a store in Burgaw.

Lewis teaches at Heidi Trask High School in Rocky Point.

The teacher says she plans to become debt free, do volunteer work and do some traveling.
