"Tree of Life"

For more than 15 years, they've been tracking the tragedy of drunk driving in their county.

Starting every year on November 1 until the end of the year, the "Mothers Against Drunk Driving" Carteret County chapter uses the "Tree of Life" to keep track of how many drunk driving crashes take place over the holiday season.

Green bulbs signify a drunk driving crash with an injury. A red bulb means someone has died at the hands of a suspected drunk driver.

Ed Mullis, a spokesperson for the organization, says since November 1, eight green bulbs and one red bulb have been added to the "Tree of Life."
