A Pink Hill Elementary school bus driver is facing disciplinary action after leaving a student behind on her bus.
The incident happened last Thursday morning. Lenoir County school officials say the kindergarten student fell asleep on the bus on the way to school. Once the bus arrived, everyone, including the driver, got off the bus. The child was found five hours later just before school let out for the day.
Lenoir County school system Public Information Director Rita Hodges says the bus driver failed to check to see if anyone was left behind. An investigation is underway. The bus driver is still employed at the school, pending the final outcome of the investigation.
