John Edwards says the Consumer Product Safety Commission has failed to protect the public from dangerous products, and he wants the acting head of the commission to resign.

The former North Carolina senator made the appeal yesterday at a middle school in New Hampshire as he continues his quest for the Democratic presidential nomination. He said he wrote to President Bush demanding the resignation of Nancy Nord.

Edwards also introduced his own plan to reform regulation of food, drugs and consumer products. In part, it calls for banning lead in all children's products and putting U.S. inspectors permanently in countries that have significant imports to the United States, beginning with China and India.

The head of the CPSC is a former rep for Eastman Kodak and has all corporation's profits at heart when making decisions, not protecting the consumer. This is just another example of the right-wing turning control of the country over to corporations and the "fox guarding the hen house."

i myself think that all the toy companies in the United States that are still doing business with China should go (BELLY UP) loose everything with all the lead, poisons, and catfish that is poisoning people around the USA if they eat to much of the fish that sells to the US for $2.00 a pound and it only cost $3.00 a pound here they are thinking about the (DOLLAR) and not the costomers here in the US and that goes for all the companies that have closed their doors here in the US just to make a little more money to stick in there pockets I myself if I can find what I am looking for that is built here in the USA I will buy it first i had rather spend a little more here to help keep people working than to try and put more money in some dummys back pocket people try hard to buy just from the USA made things and that will bring back our jobs i had rather have some money than no money Fruit of the looms under wear moved to Mexico and stuff like that boycot those companies ok thank you t

Here's an idea. Instead of the head of the Consumer Product etc. Commission resigning, why don't we try making childrens toys in the United States of America. Isn't that a novel idea??? As far as John Edwards. He's a moron and should keep his mouth shut.

John Edwards is so pathetic. Does he really think he is capable of being president. If it weren't so sorry, I would laugh. And this is a perfect example of his total incompetence. Find someone in the Bush administration and start blabbing about what should be done. John, go home and take care of your wife...and keep her there too.

Thank you John Edwards! Yes - the Bush crony needs to go - since she's been cavorting with corporations engaged in activities AGAINST the public's interest! Thanks for your leadership on this issue.
