It's a mainstay on Main Street in the City of Washington and Saturday night the curtains opened to the Turnage Theater Stage.
Sunday afternoon doors opened to those who've watched the trials and transformation of the new theater.
For the past ten years, the foundation has raise funds and applied for grants to bring this theater back to life.
For sisters, Kathleen Latham and Julia Jackson, it's a piece of history which could they say could help shape the future of Washington.
According to Julia, she wouldn't miss it for the world.
"OH.. it's wonderful I really wanted to come down here and see what its was all about."
Family and friends say they look forward to showing their generation the gem of a theater the Turnage turned out to be.
