An 11-year-old Vance County boy is accused of fatally shooting his 84-year-old grandfather after police say the elderly man shot his 49-year-old son.
Police say it happened Monday night in the small town of Kittrell, about 35 miles south of the Virginia border.
The Vance County Sheriff's Office said they responded to a fight at 430 Cricket Creek Lane and found 84-year-old Lloyd Woodlief suffering from a 12-gauge shotgun blast.
That shooting by his grandson, according to authorities, came after the elderly man shot his son, Python Woodlief, during a fight.
Python Woodlief was being treated at Duke Medical Center.
It was not immediately clear how the 11-year-old was related to the 49-year-old.
Deputies say charges are pending in the incident, but it's not clear who will be charged, or for what.
