Farmers Pleased With Tobacco Buyout

It looks like farmers will soon have the opportunity to take part in a national tobacco buyout program. Many North Carolina lawmakers and farmers are praising Congressional passage of the $10,000,000,000 buyout. The deal pays $3,600,000,000 to growers and quota holders in North Carolina.

The buyout deal was part of a massive corporate tax package approved in the U.S. Senate. One Beaufort County farmer says farmers aren't the only ones who stand to benefit from this buyout. The money will trickle down to the local economies.

The tax package is now heading to the president to be signed into law.
