Farmers Look For Drought Relief

Consecutive days of rain last week did not dispel drought concerns for many farmers across Eastern North Carolina.

And in Wayne County, they're looking to congress for relief. Congressman G.K. Butterfield met on Monday with Wayne County farmers to talk about how the drought has affected them. Farmers say that it's getting hard to pay the bills and they need to start making decisions on next year's crop. Butterfield says help is on the way, but it could take some time to get here.

A bill making it's trek through the senate would set aside money that would be available to farmers in the event of a similar problem.
