Families Speak Out Following Execution

The death sentence has been carried out on the man convicted of raping and killing a Pitt County girl 12 years ago.

Sammy Perkins was executed Friday morning in the death of seven-year-old Lashena Jo Jo Moore. The families of both Perkins and Moore are now speaking out.

Perkins former mother-in-law speaking on behalf of the family, says Perkins was a good man who made some mistakes but didn't deserve to be executed.

The victim's grandmother, says even though the ordeal is over and she feels Perkins was guilty, she believes he should not have been put to death.
