Origin Of Ocean Isle Fire Determined; USC Campus In Shock

There are still many questions this morning at the University of South Carolina, following a fire that killed six students at a North Carolina beach house.

A Clemson University student also died in the fire yesterday morning in Ocean Isle Beach.

The names of the victims have not been released and the cause of the fire has not been determined.

The mayor of Ocean Isle Beach says investigators have told her a fire that killed the students started on a deck facing a canal on the west side of the charred house.

Mayor Debbie Smith says investigators think the fire was an accident. She says investigators may not be able to determine what started the blaze.

Today the USC campus is in shock.

Nineteen-year-old Patrick Morency says he found out about the tragedy while watching the World Series last night. He says he can't put his feelings into words this morning.

Twenty-year-old Kaitlynn Forsyth says she learned about the fire
while studying in the library last night. She says she just sat there, trying not to cry.

Many of the victims were from the Delta Delta Delta sorority and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
