The City Of Greenville Paints Its New Fire Truck Purple And Gold

A new attraction to the parade this year is also a new addition to the Greenville Fire Department.
For the first time, the fire department has a new purple and gold fire engine to add to the fleet.

After ten months in the making, the new truck rolled down Fifth Street during the homecoming parade.

The fire engine carries all necessary equipment with an assortment of new safety features just adorned with pirate and gold pride.

Firefighters say this non-traditional color-scheme is also in recognition of the community they serve. Mike Burton, Chief for Greenville Fire/Rescue says,
"We decided to make it an ECU paint scheme to show our support for East Carolina University, what an important part of the local landscape it is and how much of an influence it has on our community and it's growth"

Although the unit's paint scheme is in ECU colors, it is owned and operated by the City Of Greenville Fire/Rescue Department, and not ECU.
