MRSA, the penicillin-resistant staph infection has surfaced at East Carolina--in a very unlikely location.
Two confirmed cases of MRSA and another that is suspected MRSA showed up at Dowdy Student Stores, the student bookstore on campus.
Staph has been diagnosed in a full-time employee, a part-time employee and a student--all who work at the bookstore.
The bookstore has since taken precautions to keep it from spreading to others and the university says it's okay to keep the store open.
ECU says there have been no other confirmed cases of MRSA on its campus.
