It appears that Governor Mike Easley is heeding his own directives and is cutting water use at the executive mansion in Raleigh.
Water bills for the mansion show taxpayers spent $1,166 for
outdoor water use for six weeks ending July 18. The figure dropped
to $804 for the next two months.
Lawn sprinklers were turned off August 12. Three days later
Easley told state agencies in Wake County to cut unnecessary water
Indoor use at the mansion declined about a third. The mansion has about 40 employees and it is the scene for daily public tours and other events.
