Just in time for ECU's homecoming, Greenville is getting in the purple and gold spirit. So much that the city's new fire truck now sports the Pirate colors.
The city decided to vary from the traditional fire truck red and have the $357,000 pumper painted purple and gold to show support for the role ECU plays in Greenville. The city says there were no additional costs for this unique paint scheme.
The new pumper will be assigned to fire station #1 on South Greene Street, located near the ECU campus.
It's first public unveiling will be at Friday night's Freeboot Friday, followed by participation in ECU's Homecoming Parade on Saturday.
Greenville is not the first city to paint their fire trucks with college colors. Chapel Hill also has several "Carolina Blue" fire trucks.
