Prosecutors in Tennessee have charged a North Carolina truck driver with first-degree murder in the death of man whose beaten body was found in rural west-central Illinois.
David McCoy of Shelby, North Carolina, has waived extradition. Warren County prosecutor Chip Algren says McCoy is expected to be extradited to Tennessee in the next few days.
The over-the-road truck driver is accused of killing Marvin Davis of Nashville, Tennessee.
Davis' body was found September Second in Illinois, east of Monmouth. An autopsy shows that he was beaten to death, and authorities believe the attack happened at a truck stop in Tennessee.
McCoy was previously charged with first-degree murder in Illinois. Authorities say those charges will be dismissed.
