They want to build a new hospital in Jacksonville. And a new partnership with county commissioners has taken one political hot potato off the table, for now.
Dozens of hospital workers and other citizens packed a special meeting as Onslow County Commissioners agreed to partner with the hospital authority. The partnership that could lead to a $50,000,000 expansion. That's just the first step toward a new hospital there. Politics boiled over before the meeting, after some county leaders suggested selling the hospital's deed to the authority for up to $17,000,000. But, that proposal is now on hold as the two board's try to get a certificate of need and financing for a new surgery suite and emergency room.
