Crimestoppers Telethon Kicks Off

It's sort of a mix between karaoke and MTV, local people starring in music videos, but lip-syncing for a good cause, the Pitt Greenville Crimestoppers.

The Pitt Greenville Crimestoppers Hotline Telethon kicked off Saturday, and will last through much of Sunday as well. The event has call in lines for people to request videos for a small fee to help our men and women in uniform, and according to Corporal Kip Gaskins, the crimestoppers coordinator with the Greenville Police Department, the money raised really does make a difference in crime. There have been 168 arrests in 2003, and nearly half a million dollars worth of stolen property and drugs recovered all due to crimestoppers.

To pledge or request a video you can call (252) 756-6653 and to call the crimestoppers hotline with a tip on a crime, you can call (252) 758-7777.
