An e-mail scam with a new twist is making it's way into Eastern Carolina.
New Bern police say the e-mails appear to be a legitimate message from Marine Federal Credit Union saying the victim's Visa card has been canceled.
Police say the recipient is told to calla toll-free number to reactivate their card. A recording asks for their bank account number, card expiration date and PIN. They are then told their Visa card has been restored.
Marine Federal has posted information on the web site concerning the bogus e-mails and instructs victims to call 1-800-225-3967 with questions.
