A Currituck County commissioner is free on bond tonight after troopers charged him in connection with a traffic accident Wednesday.
Ernie Bowden was charged with hit and run, having an unsealed wine or liquor container in the passenger area, reckless driving and not wearing a seat belt. He was released on a $2,000 bond.
A county news release says after the accident, a family member took Bowden to Virginia Beach General Hospital--suffering from minor bruises and scrapes. Today he voluntarily met with the clerk of court to sign his warrant and post bond.
Currituck County says Bowden remains a county commissioner.
