Greenville To Turn Off Fountain; Still No Water Restrictions

Greenville says it will turn off the fountain in front of city hall, as a symbolic reminder to citizens they need to conserve water.

Monday Governor Mike Easley called for all residents to do their part in conserving water. One of the things the governor urged was the turning off of ornamental water uses, like fountains.

The city says its fountain recycles the water that it uses.

Greenville residents are not under any mandatory water conservation measures. The city, which gets its water from the Tar River, says so far their supply has not gotten to critical levels.
