Former Sheriff's Deputy Arrested On Rape Charges

A former Currituck County sheriff's deputy faces rape charges. According to county officials, Monday a grand jury handed down two indictments for 26-year-old Shane Michael Maize.

The former Corolla patrolman faces a second-degree rape charge and second-degree sex offense, stemming from a reported incident on August 24 and 25 of this year. The State Bureau of Investigations is conducting the investigation.
