JC Penney Recalls Rugs

In a combined effort, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commisison and J.C. Penney are recalling a specific shag rug.

The "Alyssa" shag rugs fail to meet federal standards for flammability and could catch on fire, posing a fire and burn risk to consumers.

“Alyssa” shag rugs in 2’ x 3’ oval, 4’ x 6’ oval, 5’ x 8’ oval, 8’ x 11’ oval, 8’ round, and a 2’ x 6’ rectangular runner are recalled.

They were available in four color patterns: red/natural/brown, chocolate/olive/natural, gold/rust/natural, and blue/rust/green/natural.

The rugs were available for purchase through the J.C. Penney catalog and web site from June through August. They cost between $30 and $300.

Return the rugs to any J.C. Penney store for a full refund.
