Exceptional Drought Conditions Spread To Eastern Carolina

A drought that has gripped the state for months is worsening here in Eastern Carolina.

New data out this morning from the North Carolina Drought Management Advisory Council shows exceptional drought conditions have moved into Nash & Wilson counties. That's the most severe category.

In Eastern Carolina, 10 counties are in the second most severe category--an extreme drought. Eleven counties are in a severe drought, while three coastal counties remain in a moderate drought.
