Many rare North Carolina history and fiction books can now be read online.
The Joyner Library at East Carolina University has now enhanced its library Web site to include over 170 rare books pertaining to 29 Eastern Carolina counties. Library officials say the Web site, which has been active since July, has already had nearly 4,000,000 viewers. The Web site also includes maps, old and new, as well as current information about each county.
The Web site was initially funded by a $50,000 federal grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
