Newport police say they arrested four people after discovering an elaborate indoor marijuana growing operation.
Police used a warrant to search 503 Chatam Street in Newport late Sunday Night.
Police say they found a growing room equipped with lights, a watering system, exhaust fans, timers and about 85 marijuana plants. Lawmen seized about 5 pounds of marijuana.
They have arrested four people.
Melvin Shields is charged with maintaining a dwelling with the intent to sell & deliver marijuana and other related charges. Shields was jailed on a $25,000 secured bond.
Also arrested are: Bryan Gray, George Gray, & Tiffany Willis. They are jailed on $5,000 secured bond each on charges of conspiracy to manufacture marijuana.
