This might not be the weekend for a Bahamas cruise, but you don't have to go far or even spend any cash to get out on the water for a relaxing trip. Just head down to the local ferry dock, like the one at Bayview on the Pamlico River.
The North Carolina ferry system runs 24 ferries along seven different routes, from the 20 minute crossing on the Neuse River, to a two and a half hour trips from Carteret and Hyde Counties out to Ocracoke Island.
While the Ocracoke trip costs a little money, the river ferries are all free.
