Concord And Cabarrus Seek Time To Resolve Speedway Dispute

Concord and Cabarrus County officials want some breathing room to work out a dispute with Lowe's Motor Speedway owner Bruton Smith.

Smith says he will move the speedway because Concord changed its zoning rules to keep him from building a $60 million drag strip.

Officials in nearby Rowan County have already offer to help Smith relocated the speedway to their county.

Now, the head of the Charlotte area's regional development group is asking neighboring communities to stay out of the way while Concord and Cabarrus County try to work with Smith.
