Are drunk drivers getting off too easy in North Carolina? A state task force run by Governor Mike Easley says yes.

According to a 35 member panel, retailers aren't getting enough training on responsible alcohol sales and judges frequently acquit defendants, who test just above the legal limit. The report issued Wednesday also says nearly 40 percent of those charged with driving while impaired avoid conviction.

Some restaurant owners, who have had trouble in the past, feel the penalties are strict enough already. Friday night at six, we'll talk with a local district attorney about whether or not changes should be made to the current law.
