Ahoskie Man Abducted; Police Searching For Answers

An Ahoskie man has been abducted and authorities in northeastern North Carolina are trying to find out why someone would kidnap him.

Officers say just before 6:00 a.m. their 911 received a call of an abduction of Donald Bradley Smithwick at 420 North Colony Avenue. Authorities tell WITN News that when officers arrived they found a large amount of blood at the scene.

Ahoskie police say the victim has not been found and they are following several extremely important leads. This morning authorities tell us they were looking for a gun metal blue pickup truck in connection with the abduction.

Ahoskie police say the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations, the U.S. Marshals Office along with neighboring agencies have been assisting with this case.

Late this afternoon Ahoskie police said they were interviewing a person of interest in the case.
