Broadway and screen actor George Grizzard, who won acclaim, and a Tony Award, for performing in Edward Albee's dramas, has died. The North Carolina native was 79.
His agent says Grizzard died yesterday at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center of complications from lung cancer.
Grizzard was born in Roanoke Rapids. He grew up primarily in Washington and attended the University of North Carolina.
