A spokesman for the state Highway Patrol says a first sergeant has been dismissed after being charged with driving while impaired.
Patrol spokesman Lt. Everett Clendenin said 41-year-old First Sgt. John B. Warren, a nine-year patrol veteran, was dismissed Wednesday.
Warren was charged with DWI last month after Nash County sheriff's deputies were called to a domestic dispute near Nashville.
Authorities said his blood-alcohol level was .13. The legal limit for driving in North Carolina is .08.
