The ban on 19 varieties of semi-automatic guns expired Monday, after being in place for ten years. The U.S. House didn't allow a vote on extending the ban.

While the illegal use of guns is certainly an issue, Beaufort County Sheriff Alan Jordan says we need to concentrate on punishing the person pulling the trigger as well.

Jordan says his department always has to be prepared to face assault weapons because they are out there, ban or not.
