The state Department of Health & Human Services says Cherry Hospital is no longer under the threat of losing its federal certification to accept Medicare and Medicade patients.
The state says Cherry officials have been told by federal inspectors that they are going to recommend lifting the "immediate jeopardy" placed over the Goldsboro state hospital earlier this month.
Federal inspectors discovered deficiencies in patient care and safety during a visit September 4th through the 7th. The hospital was told it had a month to correct the problems found.
Cherry's director says his staff worked diligently to correct the deficiencies and they remain committed to providing the finest mental health care to Eastern Carolina.
