Periauger Makes Final Stop

A three week voyage has come to an end for the replica of the long-lost colonial vessel, Periauger.

The Perquimans County town of Hertford is now the final home for the 30 foot long, 25 foot high Periauger. Reconstruction of the boat started last November as part of a continuing educational program at the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort. Historic evidence of the Periaugers existence dates back to the 1700's. Since August 15th the replica made 6 historic stops at Eastern Carolina ports in New Bern, Manteo, Oriental, Washington, Bath and Belhaven.
