Jacksonville Bank Robbed

Deputies say a Jacksonville bank was robbed this afternoon.

It happened around 2:40 pm at the First Citizens Bank branch in the Westpark shopping center, that's on Highway 24.

Onslow County deputies say a man came into the bank and showed a teller a gun.

Detectives say they are checking surveillance video from today's bank robbery to see if it is connected to two previous holdups in Jacksonville and New Bern committed by the same man.

Authorities tell WITN the bank robber left in a pickup truck at a high rate of speed, almost hitting another motorist on Highway 24.

Witnesses say the man was driving an older model blue & gray truck.

No one was injured in today's bank robbery.
