There's been 23 armed robberies in eight days in Carteret County, and now authorities fear that same person has struck in neighboring Craven County, responsible for Tuesday night's violent holdup at the Riverdale Minimart near New Bern.
The gunman shot the clerk in the back, who was on the floor behind the counter. The victim is now recovering at the hospital. Lawmen say the gunman cleaned out the register before taking off.
Authorities are now working with the Carteret County Sheriff's Office to determine if the same person is responsible for all of the recent robberies.
