Updated: Tue 8:27 PM, Sep 07, 2004

Jury selection has ended in the case against Dock Watson. He's accused of several crimes against a Chocowinity woman last summer.

The charge of attempted sexual assault has been dropped and Watson now faces more serious charges in this case. The district attorney was unavailable to explain why the charges have changed to first-degree rape, along with first-degree kidnapping and felony larceny.

He also faces first-degree rape and robbery in a separate case involving an employee of the Pink Pedal in Washington.

Trial resumes Wednesday morning.
