For about 30 years Marines and their families aboard Camp Lejeune were exposed to contaminated water.

During a Veteran Affairs hearing Thursday in Washington, Senators heard from some who think that water is the cause of their health problems.

Thursday, North Carolina Senator Kay Hagan told the committee, studies show between 1957 and 1987 Marines at Camp Lejeune drank and bathed in water that was contaminated by toxins.

The committee also heard from Michael Partain.

He was born on the base in 1968 and at the age of 39 was diagnosed with male breast cancer.

Partain blames Lejeune's contaminated water for his disease. It's an affect Major General Eugene Payne says the military could have never predicted.
