Prosecutors in California's Contra Costa County say they will not charge a man whose 4-month old son died after being left in his father's car all day.
Deputy District Attorney Harold Jewett said Monday that 42-year-old Alan Carey made a "terrible mistake" that he will carry with him for the rest of his life.
Carey's son, Everett, died June 8 after he was left in the car at a BART station parking lot in the San Francisco Bay area city of El Cerrito.
Jewett says it appears Carey forgot the child because of several factors and the case did not rise to the level of criminal negligence.
Jewett says it appears the child died from heatstroke.

Food Bank of Greenville-I have called them twice within 2 wks in May requesting information to drop off food for the Food Bank, once I left a message with a manager and once with the voicemail provided for food donation. I think it is sad to hear the Food BAnk in New Bern is looking for donations yet I have attempted 2 times here in Greenville to drop off food and no one has returned my calls. I want to donate this food that my daughter requested as a gift from party goers instead of presents for herself. If you know of an organization that would like this food - please let me know. Thank you, Laurie

Seems he didn't forget. I'm always checking to make sure I didn't forget inanimate objects - my cell phone, rescue inhaler, keys, etc. You don't forget a child in the car. You leave a child in the car. Seems to me he didn't want to be a father. What did he remember to bring that was higher on his checklist than his son? The deputy DA is right, regardless of how good a father this guy was (or rather, wasn't). He will carry that with him for the rest of his life. You can't take an innocent life and not think on it every day, not if you're human.

I don't understand how you can forget either. Man those car seats are heavy when a baby is inside, would of remembered carrying that thing to the car.
