New Bern officials say a cable crew plowed through a sewer service in New Bern, spilling 1,400 gallons of sewage.

It happened Thursday on Satterfield Drive near Brice Creek. A crew from the city of New Bern was called in to make repairs. Officials say the spill content was vacuumed from the ditch, and lime was applied to the area.

By law, municipalities, animal operations, industries and others who operate waste handling systems are required to issue releases when a waste spill of 1,000 gallons or more reaches surface waters.

they sould be fined and the money goes to the comm.fisherman and it not just this case theyre many more ..
