Eight polling places in Guilford County will offer flu shots to registered voters in November.

The News & Record of Greensboro reports that the Guilford County Department of Public Health would offer flu-vaccination clinics Nov. 4. The effort is part of a national initiative called Vote and Vax, sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a nonprofit devoted to health and health care, and the nonprofit Sickness Prevention Achieved through Regional Collaboration.

Health officials will get permission from the owner or supervisor of a site to offer flu shots there, then will seek permission from the elections board to operate at that site.

Department spokeswoman Lynne Beck says the health department will visit 11 of the county's 165 polling places before picking eight.
