A new report from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation finds over a quarter of Hispanic adults do not have a regular health care provider.

The survey of over 4,000 Hispanic Americans finds nearly forty percent don't have a doctor because they say they're rarely sick.

Hispanics born in the US were more likely to have a provider than those born in other countries, as well as those who speak English. The report also found most Hispanics get their health information from the media.

Hispanic adults have a lower prevalence of many chronic health conditions than the U.S. adult population as a whole. However, they have a higher prevalence of diabetes than do non-Hispanic white adults, and they are also more likely to be overweight. This greater propensity to be overweight puts them at an increased risk to develop diabetes and other serious health conditions.

My father ancestors are English my mothers are Cherokee and English mixed and they both have great health insurance but my family can't even afford insurance and as far as a doctor? ha! We have to wait till we are really sick to get help then pray to god we can pay for it or make payments and then be able to afford the medicine to get better. America has a major problem when it can't even help it's own people except the rich who can afford it or the poor who get medicaid. For us to get health insurance we would have to dump our jobs to be able to qualify for any kind of help. Welcome to America The land for the Rich and no one under it. Just to let you know, I broke my foot two years back and was never able to have it set cause it would have costed me over 14,000 dollars to have it fixed.. WHO HAS THAT kind of money?? Not us!! We deserve health insurance just like the Rich people have.. universal is the way.

my ancestors (great grandparents) came from the former Yugoslavia... so that makes me Slavian American. Can I get the same benefits as the "hispanic Americans" b/c whether people want to believe it or not, these Hispanic are figuring out ways everyday to take advantage of being in the U.S. Come over here pregnant, have your baby on U.S. soil, the baby automatically becomes a U.S. citizen, and mom can stay and take advantage of the public assistance services like food stamps, welfare, energy assistance, etc. BUT, the elderly folks that need these things can't get it. How is this fair???
