The government is warning people about a product that offers fuller eyelashes. They say it can actually cause eye damage.

Fuller, sexier, lusher lashes were all the rage when "Age Intervention Eyelash" came on the market in October of 2005, bringing in more than 11 million dollars in the first 11 months. But in September 2006, the FDA and the State Public Health Department ordered the company to stop making the product because it contained Bimatoprost, a drug ingredient used to treat pressure in the eye.

Jan Marini, CEO of Jan Marini Skin Research says, "It's been sitting for 14 months locked in a room."

In that time, the company released a new, nearly identically named product without the drug ingredient, but still firmly denies that either formula ever caused any health risks.

The FDA says that use of the original product may cause adverse effects including swelling of the retina, which may lead to decreased vision.

Marini says her company has done extensive tests to prove all of her products are safe, and she will keep her eyes wide open for any data from the FDA showing otherwise.
