North Carolina Gov. Beverly Perdue is offering her congratulations for efforts to bring energy-efficient construction into the mainstream.

Perdue visits a McDonald's restaurant in Cary on Tuesday which has met standards for environmentally sustainable construction. A spokeswoman says Perdue wants to see the innovations in place at a North Carolina business.

The restaurant uses insulation made from recycled blue jeans, tubes in the roof that admit and diffuse natural light into the store, and uses water-saving plants native to the region.

McDonald's franchise owner Ric Richards says the restaurant is one of just three in the U.S. network of the world's largest fast-food chain that have been built using the green construction principles.

Snake please get back on your medication. The new health care bill should take care of it.

Remember this governor and the truth can not be in the same room at the same time. Not enough room for both apparently.

P.S. I should have added that my ultimately my parents divorced, and my Father took care of me and my siblings. He cooked many a wonderful meal for us kids. He often grilled on the weekends, made homemade ice cream, made from-scratch spaghetti sauce, took us hunting, so we knew where food came from, taught us how to clean game, and treated us to an occasional pizza or steak dinner out on the town, after a long day's work in the yard/house. We appreciated those treats, but more importantly, we have designed our lifestyles around Dad's examples. McDonald's might be okay once in awhile, but it is not a great 'lifestyle' choice for everyday. Get smart; eat smart; pass it on.
