While a new round of storms move into the area some local residents are still trying to deal with damage caused by the Nor'easter and remnants of Hurricane Ida last month.
According to the US Small Business Administration those residents and businesses affected can apply for low interest disaster loans, that's after Governor Bev. Perdue declared Dare, Currituck, Hyde, and Tyrell counties disaster areas.
Loans up to $200,000 are available to fix real estate and $40,000 is available to repair personal property.
Interest rates are as low as 2.562% for homeowners and renters, 4 percent for businesses and 3 percent for non-profit organizations with terms up to 30 years. Loan amounts and terms are set by the SBA and are based on each applicant's financial condition.
SBA's customer service representatives will be on hand at Disaster Loan Outreach Centers to issue loan forms, answer questions about the SBA's disaster loan program, explain the process, and help individuals complete their applications.
The Centers will be located in the following communities:
Dare County:
Nags Head Town Hall
5401 South Croatan Hwy
Nags Head, NC 27959
Hyde County:
Hyde County Government Center
30 Oyster Creek Road
Swan Quarter, NC 27885

What about people like me that own a mobile home. You can not buy home insurance on an older mobile home, until the nor'easter my floors and walls in my trailer were fine. But, during the hard wind and rain some of my walls leaked and ceilings. Three of my floors buckled. I live on disability income, and I have no way of getting it fixed, my daughters room was one of the floors and walls that was messed up. There needs to be help for people like me.
